Review
*I received an ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review*
First, I’m going to
say I was a little skeptical about this third book, because, for me, as a
reader, the story between Professor Emerson and student Julianne was over in
the second book, but I gladly admit I was wrong, this was the conclusion I was
waiting for, everything, since the first letter to the last it was absolutely
AMAZING.
In this book we see
this couple grow, as individual, as couple, as persons. We read how their relationship
strengthens no matter how hard the time gets, if Gabriel and Julia are together,
everything is going to be fine.
What I loved the most in Gabriel´s
Redemption was we were getting to know more about Gabriel's past. I think it
was absolutely necessary to know about his past, where he was standing, next to he was standing, what
things he used to do when he wasn’t in a relationship with Julia. One thing I
adore, is the fact he finally get some answers about where he came from. While I was
reading this chapters, I could feel Gabriel struggle for everything, I could
feel his pain, his confusion, Sylvain did a really good job transmitting the
feelings from this character.
Julia was a completely
different story, I love this character, I really do, I love the idea she set a
goal and she’s in the pursuit of it, she’s
making her own path. Julia is so strong, she helped Gabriel to heal, Julia is
mature, but in this book, sometimes I wanted to slap her in the face and I
thought “Oh, god! Why did you said that? Apologize to Gabriel right now, you
stupid girl!” But Gabriel, God bless you Professor Emerson for being so
comprehensive and caring and so beautiful inside. I understand sometimes you
have to be selfish in your goals, but if you’re sharing your live with someone,
you have to be open to different ideas, but Julia was only focused about
getting a Master, but sometimes things doesn’t go as it was planned and you
find yourself following a path it was never in your mind, and this was the case
of Julia.
I couldn’t believe it was possible
to love Gabriel more than I did, but is possible, because he’s so perfect, ok,
Gabriel may be not the greatest man in the world but he care about the ones he
love, he protect them, and that, for me, that is a perfect man.
The last few chapters were
stressing, some people would say sad, but I loved it! They were perfect, and it
showed how deep Gabriel loves Julia, it show how much he loves her, I couldn’t ask
for a better end, it was absolutely perfect!
Now, I have to say
good bye to one of my favorite characters ever, Gabriel Emerson, but I’m happy
he finally healed and he got the happily ever after he deserved. Thanks Sylvain for giving
us such an amazing story, and keep us captivated the whole time.
Bio
I'm interested in the way literature can help us explore aspects of the human condition - particularly suffering, sex, love, faith, and redemption. My favourite stories are those in which a character takes a journey, either a physical journey to a new and exciting place, or a personal journey in which he or she learns something about himself/herself.
I'm also interested in how aesthetic elements such as art, architecture, and music can be used to tell a story or to illuminate the traits of a particular character. In my writing, I combine all of these elements with the themes of redemption, forgiveness, and the transformative power of goodness.
I try to use my platform as an author to raise awareness about the following charities: Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep Foundation, WorldVision, Alex's Lemonade Stand, and Covenant House. For more information, see my Twitter account.
propio camino.
